Our History and Home

Our History and Home

The Divine Mercy House ministry was established in 1996 to raise money to renovate a private home in Fruit Cove, FL that would be a refuge for single women experiencing crisis pregnancies.  With help from generous benefactors, women between the ages of 18 and 28 were able to give birth, earn a GED, and/or complete vocational coursework, in a loving, supportive home.  The initial home had accommodations for three women at a time, plus a live-in Resident Director.  The success of this smaller home inspired its leadership to pursue establishing a permanent home and setting.  St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jacksonville, FL brought integral support, helping with initial funding and generously donating land for the construction of a new home.

Opened in 2007, the current location of Divine Mercy House is a 4,000 sq ft home located in the historic Mandarin area of Jacksonville, FL.  Our beautiful home features five mother/child suites that surround an expansive kitchen and dining room.  A living room, counseling rooms/offices, and other gathering areas provide plenty of space for daily living, one-on-ones, group meetings, and fellowship. The home also features a spacious laundry room, and a fenced-in backyard for activities and play.

The maternity home operates under the umbrella of Divine Mercy Ministries, Inc, a Christian (non-denominational) 501 (c)3 non-profit organization
